Dark PageKedai title card: TikTok fees grow with your sales — commission, 3.78% transaction fee and RM0.54 Platform Support Fee.

TikTok Shop is a great place to start selling. The traffic is there, buyers like checking out in-app, and you don't have to think about hosting or payments. But one thing many sellers don't work out early: TikTok's fees grow with your sales. Every ringgit in has a percentage going out.

This article breaks down TikTok Shop Malaysia's fees using official Seller University rates (checked 20 Oct 2026), walks through an RM10k vs RM100k/month example, and looks honestly at when your own website makes sense, and when it doesn't yet.

1. The three main fees on every order

Example chart for one RM50 order: commission RM7.46 (14.91%), transaction fee RM1.89 (3.78%), Platform Support Fee RM0.54, total RM9.89 or about 19.8%.

For a Marketplace (non-Mall), non-BXP seller, each successful order has three deductions:

  1. Category commission. Rates differ by product sub-category. Example: Women's Tops is 14.58% now, 14.91% from 31 Oct 2026 (official commission table). Formula: (item price − seller discount) × rate.
  2. Transaction fee of 3.78% (SST inclusive), on the item price minus seller discount, plus customer-paid shipping.
  3. Platform Support Fee of RM0.54 (RM0.50 + 8% SST) per successfully delivered order, regardless of order size. This is separate from the transaction fee.

Mall sellers pay higher commission. Same category: 17.82% now, 18.15% from 31 Oct 2026 (source).

Platform Support Fee waivers exist for new and small sellers, and essential categories (e.g. fresh & frozen, staples) are at 0% or exempt. Check your own account status in Seller Center.

2. What changes on 31 Oct 2026

TikTok Shop Malaysia revises commission for most categories from 00:00, 31 Oct 2026. Essential categories are reduced or held. TikTok says there are no new flat, listing or monthly charges. Orders before that date follow the old rates.

3. Worked example: RM10k vs RM100k a month

Example bar chart: an RM10k/month seller pays RM1,977 (19.8%), RM2,477 with affiliates; an RM100k seller pays RM19,770, RM24,770 with affiliates.

Example numbers only, not a real seller. Assumptions: Marketplace, non-BXP, Women's Tops (14.91%, rate from 31 Oct), RM50 average order, no seller discount, RM0 customer shipping, not PayLater, no waiver.

Per order: commission RM7.46 + transaction fee RM1.89 + Platform Support Fee RM0.54 = RM9.89 (≈19.8%).

Seller A: RM10k/month Seller B: RM100k/month
Orders 200 2,000
Commission 14.91% RM1,491 RM14,910
Transaction fee 3.78% RM378 RM3,780
Platform Support Fee RM108 RM1,080
Platform fees RM1,977 (19.8%) RM19,770 (19.8%)
+ example affiliate 10% on 50% of sales +RM500 +RM5,000
With affiliate RM2,477 (24.8%) RM24,770 (24.8%)

Affiliate rates are set by the seller (1–80% per product), so the 10% is an example assumption.

The key point: the percentage stays flat, but the ringgit amount grows with sales. That's before ads, shipping, packaging and refunds.

4. Fees aren't the only risk

Not to scare anyone. Once sales are big, it's worth having a channel you control.

5. Your own website: a fair comparison

Comparison cards of TikTok Shop vs own website, including gateway fees, own traffic, and a note: lower platform risk, not no risk.

Pros - You control pricing, pages, promos and presentation. - You own the customer data for repeat orders. - More fixed costs: package from RM1,990 (year-1 hosting + domain included; renewal at cost), and payment gateway fees per transaction. No platform commission percentage.

Cons - Payment gateways still charge per transaction, and chargebacks still happen. - You need your own traffic: IG, FB, ads, content. - Someone has to maintain it: updates, backups, renewals.

So a website means lower platform risk, not no risk. It works best alongside TikTok, not as a replacement.

6. Important: don't pull TikTok buyers off-platform

Never push TikTok Shop buyers to your website. Website links, phone numbers or other handles in your Shop account bio, videos, lives, comments, chat or parcels can count as redirecting traffic and can be penalised. Keep TikTok buyers on TikTok. Use the website for IG/FB customers, your own ads, and a separate brand TikTok account not linked to the Shop.

7. So, do you need a website?

Two out of three "yes" answers? Maybe it's time. Just starting out? Focus on TikTok Shop first.

FAQ

What is TikTok Shop Malaysia's transaction fee? 3.78% (SST inclusive) for standard payment methods.

Is the RM0.54 part of the transaction fee? No. It's the separate Platform Support Fee per delivered order, in effect since 15 Feb 2026.

When does commission change? From 00:00, 31 Oct 2026 for most categories. Rates differ by category and between Marketplace and Mall.

Are fees refunded if an order is refunded? The Platform Support Fee is not refunded for delivered orders that are later returned or refunded.

Does a website have zero fees? No. Gateways charge per transaction and chargebacks can happen. The costs are just more fixed, with no platform commission.

Can I invite TikTok buyers to my website? No. That breaks the redirect-traffic policy and risks penalties.
